About Joel Vander Weele, MBA CPA CMA
My Name is Joel Vander Weele, and I am a practitioner of Corporate Performance Management (CPM).
I have been working in this area since high school, where I built a financial reporting system for my employer using a spreadsheet on an Atari 64k personal computer.
In college I helped several businesses implement new Accounting and Financial Reporting Systems.
Technologies have changed, and my clients got bigger, but the essence of what I do today is very similar to what I did in high school and college. I help my clients use enabling technologies to improve the processes underlying how their organizations are managed. Improving these processes help business leaders plan the future of their businesses, deploy resources, measure performance, make decisions, and manage risk.
I have worked for consulting firms and software companies, in a number of roles. I am currently a Senior Manager at WHITTMANHART, INC., and am the Cognos practice lead in Chicago and Milwaukee. My educational background includes a Bachelors of Science in Accountancy from Calvin College, and an MBA from Loyola University-Chicago. I have begun to teach Graduate Level Accounting and Operations courses at the University of Phoenix.
I am a licensed CPA in Illinois and a Certified Management Accountant.
